There’s no reason to plug an Apple TV into a cable box; it gets all of its content from the internet. All you need to do is connect it to your TV with an HDMI cable and then to your internet via WiFi or an Ethernet cable. When you want to watch something on your Apple TV you just change the input on your TV from your cable box to your Apple TV.
