Network Address Translation is an Internet standard that allows hosts on local area networks to use one set of IP addresses for internal communications and another set of IP addresses for external communications. A LAN that uses NAT is referred as natted network. For NAT to function, there should be a NAT gateway in each natted network.
If NAT is turned off, the device will work on pure-router mode which can transmit data only. Please DO NOT turn it off unless your ISP supports this mode, otherwise you will lose Internet connection. Notice: The default status of NAT is Enabled, so without special demand, please don't select the Disable option. Hardware NAT is a way to accelerate NAT routing functions with hardware so that the CPU doesn't have to process the bulk of the routed traffic. There were some reports that disabling this increased the wired connection speeds with this off. Network Address Translation allows a single device, such as a router, to act as an agent between the Internet (or "public network") and a local (or "private") network. This means that only a single, unique IP address is required to represent an entire group of computers. But the shortage of IP addresses is only one reason to use NAT. Uses simple 1:1 Network Address Translation (NAT) to map IP addresses on the machine subnet to IP addresses on the control network (support for up to 32 translation mappings) Supports both Linear and Device Level Ring (DLR) topologies on the machine network; Can be configured via a web page or Electronic Data Sheet Add-on Profile
NAT Acceleration is a set of software rules and hardware features used to speed up fast internet connections through a NAT router, typically used with internet bandwidth over 100 Mbits/s. It improves throughput and reduces CPU/hardware utilization on the router by bypassing some of the features of the TCP/IP stack.

Jan 06, 2020 · For IPv4, the hardware allows IPv4 network address translation (NAT) session setup packets to reach the CPU. The kernel creates NAT entries, and the HAL implementation observes the entries from the framework-provided file descriptors and handles these flows in hardware.
Xbox Support loading Aug 26, 2005 · Hardware Firewalls/NAT Routers External firewall and NAT router appliances provide excellent "natural protection" from external intrusion hacking. For systems where a NAT router makes sense (i.e. multiple machines sharing a single Internet connection) we highly recommend the use of a good NAT router.
